Com. Rajesh

Rajesh Kumar K K was born on August 28, 1980, in Angamaly. Right from his school days at Nayathode High School, he was recognized as a bright and energetic student who proved his mettle in both curricular and extracurricular activities. After his pre-degree from UC College, he joined IIT Madras in 1998. Due to medical reasons, he left Chennai and joined Regional Engineering College, Calicut (now known as NIT, Calicut) in 1999 for his B. Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. During this period, Rajesh rose in stature as a student leader and showed exemplary organizational abilities. He was elected the Secretary General (equivalent to College Union Chairman) of the first student parliament formed in NIT, Calicut. During the transition of the institute in to a deemed university, Rajesh ably represented the interests of the students and fought for their rights.

Rajesh Kumar was a member of the state committee of the Students Federation of India (SFI). He was one of the founding secretaries of All Kerala Engineering Students Union (often called ‘Technos’). He completed his M.Tech in Computer Science from Cochin University  in 2008. During this period, he was selected as the first ever ‘Sarga Prathibha’ of Sargam, the Cochin University youth festival. This was unprecedented in the history of the university as he swept most of the non-stage events at the festival. He remained active in campus politics till he assumed the responsibility of Angamaly DYFI Municipal Committee President.

Everybody who knew him believed that he would inevitably mature into a vibrant young leader, who would make significant contributions to the society. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he did not give in easily, true to his nature. He put up a brave fight with the illness, before passing away on April 27, 2013. His life and the struggles he undertook continue to speak for him and his friends.

Rajesh Kumar K K Memorial Trust constituted in his memory, is a humble initiative by his friends from all walks of life. The endeavours of this charitable trust include identification and honouring brilliant young minds from various fields.
